Beer Brewery
Pasteurised. Usually called Draught; sometimes called Cold or Extra Cold - same beer, but served colder. Launched in 1961. Ingredients: Pale ale malt, about 25 to 30% flaked barley, and about 10% roasted barley, with no other grains or sugars; several hop varieties, mainly Goldings (pellets and isomerized extract); a flocculent head-forming ale yeast.
While it may resemble a popular Irish stout, our Oatmeal Stout is quite different. Most notably it's sweeter. Chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors round out this smooth, full-bodied beer.
Mamoot is the brown ale’s laid back brother, a perfect breakfast beer. Subtle notes of jam, coffee, and chocolate add to the toasty finish. This brew is mahogany colored and full flavored, despite the relatively light ABV.
Our flagship brew highlights barrel-fermented batches from our patented Firestone Union blended with beer fermented in stainless steel. It opens with a biscuity toasted malt aroma and a hint of oak and vanilla. Pale malts create a smooth malty middle with ribbons of caramel, English toffee and toasted oak. A tribute to English pales traditionally fermented in cask.
A clean natural tasting brew with undertones of fresh raspberries and a wonderful aroma.

La Fin du Monde has a brilliant golden color with vigorously effervescent foam. It is midly yeasty with a complex palate of malt, fruit and spice notes followed by a smooth, dry finish. La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.
Our most popular beer, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, is a delightful interpretation of a classic style. It has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor. “Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the flagship beer, the one that made Chico famous. It is a flawless beer that opens with bright, perky high notes of maltiness and orange blossom and segues into a delectable hoppiness.”
On the Big Piney, the perfect cast is under an overhanging branch or beside a bluff face. The perfect catch is a smallmouth bass that dances across the water, bronze back glinting in the sun. Our handcrafted pale ale could be the perfect end to that day.
Our 27th Anniversary Imperial Porter was brewed with Theo’s cocoa nibs, pomegranate molasses and select spices, blended with apricot puree, and then aged in bourbon barrels. The result is a truly exquisite ale with bold chocolate character, inspired flavors of fruit, and just a pinch of spice. The perfect way for us to celebrate our golden birthday with you!

Twisted Pine’s modern take on a medieval classic. Braggot, more or less a hybrid of mead and ale, was popular throughout Europe in the Middle Ages and Chaucer even made mention of the drink in his Canterbury Tales. The Twisted rendition began with malted barley, orange blossom honey and Citra hops, before the brewers shifted into adventure mode and added Tasmanian pepper berries and Buddha’s Hand to the kettle. Then for the finishing strokes this unique ale was fermented with a Belgian saison yeast.
A malt-forward monster, highlighting the depths of malt flavor. Narwhal Imperial Stout is inspired by the mysterious creature that thrives in deepest fathoms of the frigid Arctic Ocean. Featuring incredible depth of malt flavor, rich with notes of espresso, baker's cocoa, roasted grain and a light hint of smoke, Narwhal is a massive malt-forward monster. Aggressive but refined with a velvety smooth body and decadent finish, Narwhal will age in the bottle for years to come.
Wild in character, with a slightly fruity aroma and a spicy yeast flavor that is as unique as it is satisfying – Matilda is an intriguing choice for beer and wine lovers alike. Dry and quenching, it’s the perfect accompaniment at the dining table or for casually socializing at the bar.
In April 2013 we inked a deal with ArtPrize that made us the official brewery of the competition for the next five years. The premier leadership sponsorship deal included offering our beer at all official ArtPrize events, signage, promotion, merchandise, specialized glassware and other items. It also included permission for us to use the ArtPrize identity marks (logo and graphics) on any co-packaged items, including beer. We plan to release a new beer for each year of our five-year partnership with ArtPrize under the name “Artist Series”. This is year two. Last year’s release was Inspired Artist Black IPA. “Making a unique beer in honor of ArtPrize has become a fun challenge for our brewers,” said Dave Engbers, our co-founder and vice president of brand and education. “This year’s release just fell into place. Ninkasi—a stained glass ArtPrize submission that showed in our taproom last year—became a permanent part of our taproom when we purchased it last year. We knew right away that it would make a perfect label for Mosaic Promise, a beautifully simple beer that we had been experimenting with for some time.” Mosaic Promise showcases a single malt—Golden Promise—and a single hop—Mosaic. The traditional barley’s depth of flavor and the versatility of the hops’ bittering, flavor and aroma characteristics are the strong pillars that comprise the structure of this clean, rich, golden beer. We can brew complex beers with the best of them, but we recognize that there’s also beauty in simplicity. The beer clocks in at 5.5% ABV and 50 IBUs. Proceeds from the sale of Mosaic Promise will support the future programming of the ArtPrize organization. ArtPrize is an international art competition, open to any artist and decided by public vote. Its mission is to promote critical dialogue and collaboration through new, creative ideas among a large and diverse population of people. As an innovator in redefining what beer can be, we believe that experimentation is central to the human experience—whether one experiments with grains and hops or colored glass and light—and that sharing one’s creation with the public is a brave act worth celebrating. “Founders is an iconic brand producing a sublime range of exquisite beers in our own Grand Rapids,” said Christian Gaines, executive director of ArtPrize. “We’re honored and elated to count Founders as the ArtPrize Official Brewery and to include Mosaic Promise as the latest special release beer—one that’s emblematic of our strong partnership and shared commitment to art, artists and community.” More than 400,000 people are expected to attend ArtPrize 2014. We also partnered with ArtPrize to launch ArtPrize on Tap, the newest ArtClub membership perk. From the patios of the Centennial Room, our private second-floor entertainment space, ArtPrize on Tap offers ArtClub members the opportunity to connect year-round and stay on the ArtPrize insider track, while enjoying Founders food and beer. We will premiere Mosaic Promise at the August installment of ArtPrize on Tap. Held on the third Wednesday of every month, ArtPrize on Tap is free for ArtClub members, and friends of ArtPrize and Founders can join for $10. To learn more, go to artprize.org/artclub. Mosaic Promise will be available for a limited time starting on Sunday, September 14, across our Michigan, Wisconsin, metro NYC and Chicagoland distribution footprint. It will be released in our taproom on draft and in bottles starting on Tuesday, September 16. There will be an event in our taproom featuring the artists and introducing the beer from 4:30-6:30pm that day. One-of-a-kind Mosaic Promise posters will be given away, while supplies last. Mosaic Promise will also be featured at official ArtPrize events. This year marks the sixth edition of ArtPrize, which will take place Sept. 24–Oct. 12, 2014. Our taproom will be a venue for the sixth year running.
Our golden-yellow wheat beer, with its fine-pored white foam, smells of cloves and impresses consumers with its refreshing banana flavour. It is full bodied and with a smooth yeast taste. To be enjoyed at any time (always a pleasure / enjoyment), goes excellently with fish and seafood, with spicy cheese and especially with the traditional Bavarian veal sausage. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.
New from our Hop Kitchen Series - Botanical Imperial IPA. From the garden to your glass, Botanical Imperial IPA blossoms with Spring flavor. This big imperial IPA packs an equally potent hop punch courtesy of Bravo, Cascade, Sterling and Willamette varieties; and then we intensified the citrusy, herbal and spicy hop flavors with botanicals like Basil, Sage and Juniper to create the freshest IPA around. Taste the bounty.
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.
Contact High is our summer seasonal inspired by the American craft movement. We made this wheat ale exciting by adding pacific northwest hops and dry hopping with orange zest. Contact high pours a bright orange hue with a bit citrus aroma. citrus zest + hops + wheat = summer.

Driven by an unquenchable thirst for discovery, the Illusive Traveler often disappears for weeks at a time without telling a soul of his destinations. Not friends. Not family. No one. And each time he returns, he unveils new, wonderfully refreshing beers with great aplomb. When pressed to reveal his travels, I.T. changes the subject or dodges the question by refilling the inquisitor’s pint glass with his latest recipe, encouraging them to drink up. His friends inquire as to his whereabouts based on the varied ingredients and spices used in his brews, but he neither confirms nor denies their speculations. Is he part of some secrete government organization? Does he have ties to the Bavarian Illuminati? Is this man real or an illusion? So many questions, yet so few answers. We proudly introduce the Illusive Traveler, an American craft wheat ale brewed with real grapefruit. He’s a mysterious fellow with a distinctly juicy disposition.
Our American blonde ale is brewed with elderflower, red wheat, and three different varieties of hops. Elderflower adds a soft floral element that accentuates the red wheat. Single speed pours straw in color with floral undertones.
Bell's Oberon is a wheat ale fermented with Bell's signature house ale yeast, mixing a spicy hop character with mildly fruity aromas. The addition of wheat malt lends a smooth mouthfeel, making it a classic summer beer.
One of the coolest styles in the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) as its development came out of American Homebrewing! This is where our Brown comes from as well. We keep this beer riding a line between chocolate bitterness and coffee roast and support it with American Hops as well. Brown Beer is one of our favorite styles and has a lengthy history due to the fact that most malt kilning plants in ages past were using direct heat to roast and kiln. It was a lot harder to keep malt light in color back in the day, but we've got most of it down to a science now.
Half Wit Wheat

Belgian-Style White (or Wit) / Belgian-Style Wheat

Charleville Brewery
Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri
New! A Munich Style Helles. Golden and medium-bodied, it has a fresh noble hop character and lightly toasted malt flavor. This classic summer time lager is made for the warm, lazy days of Summer in America's heartland.
Don't know what to call it besides a Brett Beer. This one gets aged for 3 months in oak barrels with Brettanomyces Lambicus, a cool yeast that gives this beer a wonderfully pretty aroma and flavor that everyone better like or else I'll look you up and teach you a lesson.
The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the St. Bernardus beers. It is also the beer with the highest alcohol content (10.50 %). A dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation. The show piece of the brewery. Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted. The Abt has a very fruity flavour.
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea. Yeast: Top Fermenting Ale Yeast Malts: Two Row Pale, Caramel, Chocolate, Black, Roasted Barley Hops: Chinook, Tettinang, Perle, Goulding Vanilla: Real vanilla beans from Paupau New Guinea and Madagascar.
I'm pretty convinced that if the whole musician thing hadn't worked for Johnny Cash he would have made some pretty good beer. Specifically he would have made a nice Robust Porter that weighed in about 6%, hopped with First Gold, and it certainly would have been Black. Well, since as far as I can tell he didn't actually get around to brewing we jumped in and did it. Our Porter uses a Classic London Yeast strain and plays guitar pretty well. Next time you're looking for a comfy pint just say "Hey! Porter!"

Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness. It is wonderful with desserts or lighter fares such as salads and pastas. Fresh cheeses such as Burrata, chevre, Creszenza, mozzarella or Teleme pair well with Strawberry Harvest.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens"result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing and the colourful label contribute to its success.
Dark and delicious, America's great milk stout will change your perception about what a stout can be. Preconceived notions are the blinders on the road to enlightenment. Udderly delightful.
Mango Magnifico con Calor [Magnificent Mango with Heat] is a never-before-released, high-gravity fruit beer brewed with mango and a touch of Michigan-grown habaneros. Each 750mL bottle of this 10% ABV ale is intended to be shared. Not a traditional fruit beer, the delicate tropical fruit in Mango Magnifico is punctuated by a hint of heat, increasing the overall depth of flavor and adding another level of complexity. A refreshing drink for the warm summer months.
Snapper IPA

American-Style India Pale Ale

Logboat Brewing Company

Created by the Moortgat family, bottled Duvel is one of Belgium’s favorite ales. The secret of its success lies in using only best-quality ingredients, and in the well-balanced, very specific, complex brewing and refermentation process that takes over 90 days. After brewing and first fermentation – which takes about 30 days – the beer is tasted by the brewmaster and his staff. At this stage this beer is called “single-fermented.” Typical Duvel flavors and aromas are already emerging, but the beer is lower in alcohol and carbonation, and the taste is slightly lighter and crisper. This is only available in draft and is different from what is in the bottles.
